Jet Fighter Movies - October is here. For many of us, the temperature is dropping and daylight hours are short, so it is inevitable that we will spend a few more hours indoors. There's no shame in using some of that time to take a trip down movie theater memory lane. There's no shortage of great military movies from the '80s, but I've narrowed them down to five.

Anytime you compile a movie list like this, you're bound to miss out on some good picks. In a decade like the 1980s, when there was a long list of major movies depicting military service or war, the chances of losing sleep became more significant. After all, how do you choose between Clint Eastwood's "Heartbreak Ridge" and Robin Williams' "Good Morning Vietnam"? Long story short, I didn't include any, and I'm sure that would ruffle a few feathers.

For Marines like me, we may not want to associate ourselves with wimpy private Bill Paxton. Hudson, but let's be honest with ourselves... a few howls are warranted when an alien is chasing you with acid for blood.
